Put ‘er there!
My
name is Bruce
Wayne Wersen. And although I’ll answer
to “Pastor Bruce,” I encourage people
to simply call
me Bruce. My wife’s name is Shar.
We have two kids, Keaton
and Shaz.
I co-founded His Place back in
1983
when I merged a college Bible
study I was leading with my father’s
adult Bible study. My dad Larry
pastored the church for 14 years. Meanwhile I
continued leading the youth and shortly became
the church’s administrator as well. I have
served in just about every capacity over the past
20 years, and in April 1997 I became the senior
pastor.
In 1988, I directed the construction
of our “Noah’s Ark” Children’s
Church. The design and most of the construction
was completed by Ken
Beane, our Music Director.
In April 2000, we moved into our
current, expanded
sanctuary. And in April 2002, we added "Community
Church" to our name, in an effort to
communicate more clearly with the unchurched.
Although I didn't go to Bible college, I’ve received much pastoral
training. I attended UCLA’s Extended Arts
Program for Motion Pictures in the early 80’s.
And I’m still pursuing this passion “on
the side.”
I’ve enjoyed the past two
decades of ministry at His Place, and I look forward
to what God has for the future. But I must confess,
the years have taken their toll.
